Sundance 2009

This is Richard and I in front of the Egyptian Theatre on Main Street in Park City. We had a great time at Sundance this year. Highlights include Mark Simonsen yelling with the voice of a thousand men "I AM SPARTACUS" while standing on a park bench along Main Street. We actually got in to see one of the new documentaries on its premiere night. Unfortunately, Rachael slept through half of it. In her defense, Rachael can only repeat "it was called 'Earth Days'-- what can I say." Actually, it was very well made and included the testimony of a woman who was committed to leaving no carbon footprint, including having no children. To that woman we say "neener neener neener, our children will rule the world when you are gone"
This is a lovely photo taken by the lovely Kaela Cusack. IT features Kendra and Miles Wright and Rachael and Richard Rose. We ate at "Good Karma" in park city. A great Indian restaurant (endorsed by the Hispanic chamber of commerce no less-- we saw the certificate on the wall) whose curried lamb was apparently featured on a Rachael Ray episode. The food was fantastic but in very small portions. Rachael had to supplement her meal with a hard, dry calzone that she tried to purchase in a Maverick gas station but the cashier gave it to her for free because (I quote) "it has been sitting there since noon."
What would Sundance be without some SWAG! a very nice man gave us these beanies for FREE advertising HBO documentary films! Please notice that Mark Simonsen's beard takes up half his face in this photo (oh how we will miss the beard!)

Winter Wonderland

We went hiking in the snow last Saturday.  Here are the pictures to prove it:

2009

Happy New Year!!!! .... er, Happy Second Week of the New Year!!!!

We had a great time on new years eve.  We made a bunch of food and played some games including ping-pong and the great Dalmuti.  Rachael played the part of the "Greater Peon" very well.

On New Year's Day, Rachael wanted to stay in bed for a prolonged time period.  I was ready to see what 2009 has to offer, so I snuck out and left a 'decoy' ala Buster Bluth.

2009 looks to be a great year for us.  Hightlights will surely include Richard's graduation (last semester!) and moving to Seattle in September.  So far, however, one of the best moments of 2009 has been watching Carson Daly struggling to take a picture of himself with his iPhone at midnight.
