Richard and I had the honor and pleasure of spending a week with the Morgan family, comprised of Ryan, Laura, baby Kate (because you have to say baby Kate), and little Robbie. We were friends in Provo and then they moved to Portland while we moved to Seattle. Work brought Ryan to the city this past week, and much to our delight, his family tagged along for a little vacation in the Emerald city. Visiting with Laura and their kids taught me that although I can live just about anywhere, having even one good friend close by makes all the difference. I am happy living in Seattle. Its far from depressing here (in fact, I really really like it) and I love exploring the forests with Anna and going to the library or going downtown to meet Richard, or buying spices at Pike's market and trying new foods. But the one thing I really miss...is having a good woman nearby to talk to and laugh with and confide in. Luckily, I can be patient, and in the mean time, I just talk to Anna about everything-- she is a great listener, but gets distracted often...by things like windows, lights, open doors, television, or anything that moves

This is the whole Morgan family. Little Robbie is already as heavy as Anna and he was born almost two months after her. What great people. Portland is definitely lucky!

This is baby Kate! She is fantastically smart! She recited a poem for Richard and I called "Bananas" after much cajoling and the promise of a fruit Newton from her father. Her performance was epoch and included words like Souvlaki and Falafel-- words I hadn't heard of until halfway through my college career. I would definitely put her on "America's Got Talent"

I thought you would enjoy this picture of me-- I thought it would make everyone feel better about their own somewhat unphotogenic moments.

Laura is one of the most amazing women and moms I have ever met. After just a few days with her around her kids, I have already vowed to be a better mother!

Yay!! That's so fun that you guys got to spend time together. Laura is one of those moms who seems like a natural at it ... at least that's the impression I always had of her. It's always great to have people around you that inspire you to be better just by being themselves. I hope you guys will have the chance to get together again soon.
Oh, we love the Morgans! How fun that you were able to get together! Love the picture of you, by the way. (I have way worse, so don't worry...)
I'm glad you have friends nearby to come visit you and boost your spirits! I agree with Natasha...it's great to have people around that inspire you to be better. You definitely are that for me! I miss our chats. Are you guys coming to Utah for the holidays???
oh man! I wish I was closer! Love the glamor shot of you! ;) Seriously, I am so excited that you will be here over the holidays. We will be around until the first week of Jan, so we would love to hang out! Give Anna Banana extra kisses!
I miss you so much! :( I was even thinking of you and missing you tonight when I needed a friend to attend a high school play of Aida because of course Miles wouldn't. ;) But you're so loveable I'm sure you'll find 100s of friends soon. And yes, you too inspired (and still inspire) me to be better. Love you lots!
Wow Rachael!! Thanks so much for your kind words. That trip was so healthy for me. I consider myself a new mom in lots of ways, with much to learn. I learned so much from you and was reminded of how special those little babies are. It's funny, because as Ryan and I were talking about our visit, I remember saying, "she just makes me want to be better!" We can't wait to see you three soon!!
