On the outs with Daylight Savings

I used to love Daylight savings time....an extra hour of sleep, right? As a kid, daylight savings is the best because you get to sleep in later and stay up later...

Unsurprisingly, Anna does not believe in Daylight Savings (I kept trying to tell her to set her clocks back an hour, but she decided to get up at her usual time-- a lovely 6 am this morning), and Frankly (Delano Roosevelt), neither do I.

Apparently, Mr. George Vernon Hudson was the first person to propose the idea of Daylight Savings in the late 1800's. He was an entomologist that liked to collect bugs in his after-hours and he needed more daylight to do his work. Apparently, you CAN expect the world to revolve around you. I mean, what about all the vampires that need more darkness to do THEIR work? Are we going to value one man's hobby over another? IS that fair?

And...I have just learned....Daylight Savings is OPTIONAL. Arizona and Hawaii have seceded from the Daylight Savings union! Now that is train I could get on board.

i'm actually a fan of daylight savings ONLY because it now means i have an extra hour to call my family in the US in the morning. BUT that's only because Japan doesn't do daylight savings. Go figure! funny post.

I would prefer to live in Hawaii. Hmmm, sun.

I hate daylight savings. I wish we would just pick a time and stick to it. I actually prefer this change ("fall back" as opposed to "spring forward"), because I get to bed earlier and so do my kids.

I don't like the change at all. It's dark when I get home from work at 4:30 pm which means that my runs happens in the dark or I just don't go. I got to work when it's dark and I come home and it's dark...enter long periods of depression here. :) Not to mention I come home from church on Sundays when it's dark too.

I'm also not a fan of daylight savings. I wish everyone could follow Az. But maybe that's because I spent so much time there...
