Well, it finally happened (no, not labor!)....
someone finally told Richard how lucky he was to be married to me, Rachael Rose.
Now, that may be a small thing for those of you normal people. In most families the girl's family tells the boy how lucky he is to have her, and the boy's family tell the girl how lucky she is to have him (and sometimes, the boy's family tells the girl how grateful they are to the girl for taking the boy off of their hands). That is what happens in normal families.
But what happens when the boy's family tells the girl how lucky she is to be married to their son, but the girl's family ALSO tells the girl how lucky she is to be married to such a wonderful guy.
Who is supposed to remind the boy how lucky he is to be married to the most beautiful, talented, intelligent, funny girl in the world.
Well, that job has been placed squarely on my shoulders ever since Richard and I got married. When we visit his home, everyone tells me how lucky I am to be married to Richard, and Richard's mom frequently tells me that I am the luckiest girl in the world (as she stares adoringly at her son-- but who can blame her). But when I am around my family, they also remind me that I am really lucky and that Richard is WAY cooler than me (of course, they have seen me in all my awkward glory growing up, or those times when I used to run around naked in the house when I was six.....).
So, I have to be the one to tell Richard how lucky he is, because no one else is doing it for me!
But on Sunday we were down visiting my family in St. George, and coming out of church, one of my neighbors stopped us and made a remark about how I had such a special spirit (which may or may not be a compliment coming from the wrong person) and that Richard was very lucky to be married to me.
I turned to Richard with a glowing face and said "FINALLY!!"
I think Richard was pretty delighted with how delighted I was. After a moment of letting me gloat, he remarked "Wow, today is probably the happiest day of your life!"
Yes, my friend, it was!

Well I second that!! Richard-- you are incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful wife! (I'm sure you already know that)
Ha ha ha...Rach I'm glad it finally happened!!!! That made me smile and laugh out loud. Richard better remember that he is lucky everyday!
Wow, I can't believe that. I guess I don't know Richard that well, but I know you, Rachael, and he is DEFINITELY super blessed to be married to you. I'm glad you have such a strong self esteem that you can survive two families glowing praises of your husband! Don't worry, all that attention will shift to the bambino here pretty soon. My parents always talk about us visiting in terms of Emma, not either of us;)
