There and back again

December 2011 was road trip season for the Roses. Let's start this blog post with a pop quiz... how far is it from Seattle to Miami? (This also represents the longest possible route in Ticket to Ride)
The answer, according to the good folks at google, is 3,329 miles or approximately 44 hours if you drive the speed limit.
... and our family's route? 3,747 miles, 59 hours, 999 bottles of beer on the wall, or 28 Toy Stories (we're waiting, Pixar).
(There was significant backtracking, not evidenced by the map above).
Good work, Anna!
For my part, I enjoyed every minute the three of us spent together. Although I must disclaim that I skipped out on the last two legs of the journey.
Can you find Anna in this photo?
Life to date fish caught:
Anna - 1
Richard - 0
(True story -- it was THIS big)
We loved all the animals.
Anna loves playing with her cousins.
And these noobs...
We made the "biggest snowman ever"!
Happiest place on earth. You may think there is backlight from the window in this pic, but please be aware this photo was taken at night. The halo of radiating goodness from the wing is captured by the photograph.
Last tractor ride before stage 5 of the trip.
Rachael and Anna liked the vacation so much, they decided to stay. Unfortunately, I had to come home. I miss my girls, but at least we can bridge the 1,143 miles with a morning FaceTime.
(Sidenote: Anna does not understand non-video phone calls. When we call grandma, she always holds up her toys to the phone, assuming the person on the other end will be able to see her.)
