Richard and I went to Grand Junction this weekend to celebrate his birthday and spend time with Richard's mom. We decided to go on a hike to the "Devil's Kitchen" on Colorado National Monument. This was Anna's first hike and she was awesome-- slept the whole time and I enjoyed the feeling of having her so close to me again.
These are Anna's legs, dangling in front of me. I liked that they were in easy reach of my hands anytime I wanted to tickle them!

Just point the way to Mount Everest. I'm ready. I mean, Sacajawea (sp?) forged through the wilderness with a baby on her back-- why not me?

I had great views the whole time-- it was a beautiful day. Unfortunately, Anna's only view was of my chest-- kind of boring...unless it is mealtime :)

I think she is pretty darn cute. This picture below gives you a great close up of Anna's blond patch on the side of her head (bottom left hand corner). She is definitely a trend setting baby with her natural blond streaks.

Don't let the smiles and the close proximity fool you-- Richard and I really detest each other. Actually, we are more in love than ever!! I have gotten to spend so much time with him this summer, and I have found that I can't get enough. I am counting down the days until Retirement when we can just solve crossword puzzles all day!

The Rose family conquers the mountain!

This is where Richard gets all his great ideas. IT was here that he thought up the internet, band-aids, and freeze dried mini marshmallows...

I gave Richard a mini blow torch for his birthday. It is more manly that a kitchen torch and I got it in the store's plumbing section anyway. Not only will he be able to solder and weld things, but he can also get a nice crust for a creme brulee!

Happy Birthday to Richard! He turned 25 years old today, which means that although he has already gotten married, graduated with his masters degree, and had a child, that only now can he rent a car without paying additional fines for being underage (i.e., on our honeymoon my driver's license had expired, so we paid an extra $30 a day so that Richard could drive our rental car-- he was only 22 at the time!)

Happy birthday, Richard! Congrats on your great family hike, too. I sure wish we could you over for a dinner party at our house... naturally, I'd ask you to bring the creme brulee. :D
