Our second mini vacation was to Leavenworth, Washington. This coincided with our anniversary as well as mother's day weekend. It is no coincidence that we always end up traveling over this time period each year. This is how the Rose family celebrates good times!
We started out with a hike on Friday afternoon. Washington was going through a freak hot spell at it made it to 90 degrees that weekend (almost 30 degrees higher than normal). I wasn't complaining...I like bright sunlight and a good amount of heat (I am a southern Utah girl).I have said it before, but time and distance are relative when hiking with kids. We had hiked for an hour up a hill in the heat and only made it half the distance to the peak. We had traveled 1 mile. It felt like 10.
WE loved our hotel that we stayed at in Wenatchee. It had a nice big room, a big king size bed for Richard and I, a pull out bed for Anna and plenty of floor space for Benjamin.
After going for a swim and eating dinner, we went back to our room and watched a movie together. In addition, the hotel has cookies and milk in the foyer in the evenings.
Just hanging out in our hotel was totally fun. We played and laughed and rolled around in the bed.
The next morning (Saturday, May 11, our anniversary), we went into Leavenworth. The town was in the middle of its May Festival and we got to watch a little parade.
Leavenworth is a cute little Bavarian village. Men wear actual leiderhosen here! Its like you walked straight into "Heidi"
WE decided to play some miniature golf. Anna was interested for the first 7 holes. Unfortunately, there were still 11 left to play....
Leavenworth was definitely a jewel. And it was relatively so close. Within a two hour radius from Seattle, you can find any kind of vacation you want-- even international (Victoria or Vancouver, Canada). This particular overnighter was one of our most fun and memorable. The perfect little vacation.
