tulip festival 2013

This was our 4th year at the Tulip Festival.  It is probably the one thing that I would feel amiss about missing.     A part of it is that it falls right at the time of year (mid April) that I most need reminding of the beauty of the Northwest.  After a long gray, rainy winter, seeing a patch of rosy red tulips can do a lot for your well-being and general contentedness with life.  For me it signals the end of winter and the beginning of sunnier days.
Richard got off work early and we headed up the Skagit Valley-- which is the world's largest producer of tulips.  Richard was very impressed that the domain name "tulips.com" was owned by the place where we went to tiptoe through the tulips.  These photos need no explanation.  They are beautiful enough on their own.  Suffice it to say, this is one of our most cherished family traditions.
